You will learn about the advantages of emerging markets, the main characteristics that enable economies to become part of emerging markets, the size of emerging markets, the most prominent economies that belong to emerging markets around the world, the most prominent sectors towards which investments are directed in emerging markets, and the importance of emerging economies to the investment environment. Then, a comparison will be made between them and advanced economies.

This module will introduce the most prominent risks surrounding investments in emerging economies, and the concept of these risks, as a prelude to discussing risk management mechanisms in the final chapter of this course.
